 Office

As an FFA member, you have the chance to become an officer in our organization.  At Academy High School, our officers are president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, reporter, sentinel, and historian.  Mr. Callis is the chapter advisor.

Officers are expected to perform the duties they are assigned.  For example, the president should run all meetings and the secretary should keep minutes and organize the agenda for the meetings.  If you are interested in becoming an officer, talk to Mr. Callis or any current officer.

In addition to chapter office, you have the opportunity to earn a higher rank.  Just like Sarah S., you can become a district officer of the Coastal Bend FFA District and lead the chapters of the Coastal Bend.  Officers of the Area X FFA Association facilitate several leadership camps, conferences, and conventions (and most are delegaes at the National FFA Convention).  And if you have what it takes, you can become a Texas FFA State Officer.  Less than 820 individuals have had the honor of serving the Texas FFA Association as state officers.  You will spend your first year out of high school serving the FFA members of our great state.  Finally, if you have the drive, the jacket of a National FFA Officer awaits.

For each of these offices, you must prepare.  Most selection processes include a test, interview, and a speech for the members that will elect you with a popular vote.  Natinal Officer candidates are selected by a nominating committee, in a very difficult series of interviews and practicums.

When it becomes available, the information needed to run for chapter office will be posted here.
