So many people believe that in order to be in FFA, you have to show an animal in the county stock show. While this SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience) is the most common and sometimes the most profitable, students can work at a local fast food restaurant or department store, start their own business, complete research, or shadow and explore careers for their SAE.
An SAE program is a planned practical agricultural activity which supports skill and competency development, career success and application of specific agricultural and academic skills a student has learned through classroom instruction in agricultural education.
A SAE program is the actual, hands-on application of concepts and principles learned in the agricultural education classroom. Students are supervised by agricultural education teachers in cooperation with parents, employers and other adults who assist them in the development and achievement of their educational and career goals.
SAE's can be of several different types. Open the form below to find out about SAE's and follow instructions to select and set up an SAE on the AET recordbook system (http://theaet.com).
The following are the differnt types of SAE:
Ownership/Entrepreneurship
Plan and operate an agriculture-related business.
Placement
Work for someone else either for pay or for the experience.
Exploratory
Learn about the 'big picture' of agriculture and its many related careers (normally reserved for Greenhands).
Supplementary
